GLP-1s are incredibly effective for taking control of weight. We hear a lot about how GLP-1s kill your appetite but they work primarily by modifying your body’s production of insulin and glucose. The absence of an appetite is actually a side effect.
I offer Tirzepatide. I’ve had much success with it myself. It’s more effective than Semaglutide (Ozempic/Wegovy) and has fewer side effects.
Using Tirzepatide
- Start with 2.5mg per week for 4 weeks. After that, stay on a dosage as long as it’s working for you. You don’t have to titrate up every four weeks. Take your time. Once you reach the max 15mg dosage, there’s nowhere else to go.
- Tirzepatide can not just kill your appetite, it can make you feel almost an aversion to food. You must eat. Take the opportunity to eat for nutrition. I use LyfeFuel Daily Essentials, a complete nutrition product, to help meet daily nutritional needs. Huel offers a unique line of savory instant meals you make in the microwave.
- Tirzepatide reduces gut motility by slowing gastric emptying and intestinal movement. To avoid a side effect of this, use a daily fiber supplement. Psyllium husk capsules do not produce gas. A daily dose is 6 capsules but take more or less, depending on your experience.
- You must prioritize some form of resistance/strength training. You will lose muscle tissue if you do not communicate to your body that your muscles are being used! You don’t have to lift weights to exercise effectively. Bullworker makes a line of isometric exercise equipment for working out at home. The original Bullworker or Steel-Bow are highly effective for targeting muscle groups. Perform bodyweight exercises with the Iso-Flo that doubles as a suspension trainer. Lifeline Fitness makes an excellent suspension trainer that’s a low-cost alternative to the TRX. Go minimalist with Mark Lauren’s highly regarded You Are Your Own Gym: The Bible of Bodyweight Exercises. Just be sure you DO SOMETHING or you risk losing significant muscle!
- Along with your exercise strategy, prioritize protein. There are a lot of good protein products you can work into your daily nutrition plan. Fairlife Milk makes Core Power and Nutrition Plan shelf-stable shake products. Find them at any grocery store. Club stores like Costco, Sam’s, or BJ’s carry them in bulk packs. Oikos makes a delicious yogurt shake with 30g of protein. Also available at any grocery or club store. To seriously power-up your protein shake, mix in a protein powder like Body Fortress, available at Walmart, Amazon, and club stores. Prefer something that’s not a shake? Syntrax Nectar is a line of delicious fruit-flavored protein powders that are great in juice or tea. Make it a habit to consume a protein drink AFTER doing a workout.
- You WILL need to cycle off at some point. You may notice your appetite coming back and food noise creeping back into your head. Your weight loss may slow down or plateau. Cycle off Tirzepatide for at least 4 weeks or up to 6 weeks. When I cycled off, I did not sense my full former experience of hunger, appetite, and food noise until about week 4. Your experience will be unique to you. At some point, a higher dose won’t be the fix. YOU WILL HAVE TO CYCLE OFF. If you are concerned about dealing with hunger and food noise, consider Cagrilintide to get you through.
Retatrutide is POWERFUL!
Just my opinion, but I would suggest Retatrutide for two kinds of people: If you have a lot of weight to lose and it’s been a struggle for you for years, start on Tirzepatide then advance to Retatrutide after some months. OR You’re involved in serious muscle development or bodybuilding and you’re working on losing fat while building muscle. You’re willing and able to comply with a regimen of intense exercise and you follow a strict high protein diet.
It’s especially important to take this seriously if you do the Super Stack protocol.
